Colin Kaepernick donates $50,000 to Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels has confirmed a $50,000 donation from former San Francisco 49 e rs q u a r - terback Colin Kaepernick. Th e g ro u p t h at p ro - v i d e s fo o d for seniors in need thanked K a e p e r n i c k for his donation Tuesday.

It c a m e a d ay a fte r President Donald Trump took a swipe at Kaepernick during a campaigns tyl e ra l ly i n Ke n t u c ky by taking credit for the lack of suitors for the free agent. Meals on Wheels faces a sharp funding cut under Trump’s proposed budget.

Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” ahead of 49ers games last season as a protest of police treatment of minorities became a topic of national debate.

Kaepernick is also promoting a campaign to raise m i l l i o n s of d o l l a rs fo r drought relief in Somalia.
