GOP, Democrats elect new local officers
Staff Report
Hamilton County’s Republican and Democratic parties elected new officers Saturday. Each party’s new chairman was elected unopposed, despite some controversy over an email sent last week in support of Republican chairman nominee Matthew Bryant. Then-Hamilton County GOP Chairwoman Connie Weathers said the e-mail discouraged nominations from the floor. At Saturday’s convention, no nominations came from the floor. Mr. Bryant, former president of the Hamilton County Pachyderm Club, was elected unanimously. Jeff Brown, who served as campaign manager for City Councilwoman Pam Ladd, was elected Democratic Party Chairman. Other officers are: Republicans Vice chairwoman: Delores Vinson Secretary: Liz Norris Treasurer: Brent Lambert Vice treasurer: Brandon Lewis Democrats Vice chairman: Rodney Strong Secretary: Margie Shorter Treasurer: Joe Blass
